John joined the firm in 1991. He received a BBA degree from the University of Michigan in 1973. He also received a MBA degree with a concentration in taxation in 1978. He works with clients in a wide variety of industries, including health care and other services, retail, restaurants and construction.
DENNIS BERGSMA, CPA
After graduating with a BS degree in accounting from Ferris State University, Denny joined the firm in 1983 and is currently the managing partner. He had been a former employee of BDO Seidman. Denny's areas of expertise include auditing, general business planning and college planning.
In addition to belonging to the MACPA and the AICPA, Denny has been Treasurer of various Christian and charitable organizations and foundations. He is also a past President of the Calvin Christian School Board. Denny and his wife Lorilee have four daughters. He enjoys golfing, camping and being involved with his children's sports activities.
JOHN C. BIBBLER, CPA
John joined The CPA GROUP, PC in 1998 in a merger with his prior firm. Prior to the merger he had spent fourteen years as a partner in other local CPA firms and six years as an auditor for the state of Michigan. John has acted as an advisor and consultant to numerous small and mid-market businesses in the areas of litigation support, accounting, tax and human resource needs. He has represented clients before various tax authorities on a variety of issues. John's emphasis is on building long term relationships with his clients with a strong commitment to their needs. John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA). He is a graduate of Western Michigan University and obtained his CPA Certification in 1983.
John and his wife Lisa have three children. He enjoys golf, racquetball, hunting, fishing and a variety of other sports. John is a volunteer with Junior Achievement and has taught classes in international marketplace and personal economics.
JACK JIPPING, CPA
Jack joined the firm in 1997 after having worked in the private sector as a Chief Financial and Operations Officer for several years. Prior to that he had been a partner in the firm of Jipping, Bardolph & Bibbler, which he founded in 1983. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1976 with a BBA degree, Jack spent over seven years with the international firm of Arthur Andersen & Co. Jack has an extensive background in financial analysis, management issues, taxation, partnerships, strategic planning and information systems. The combination of public accounting and industry experience provides him with a broad, practical approach to business issues.
Jack is a member of both the AICPA and MACPA. He and his wife, Laurie, have three children.
JAN VANDER WEIDE, CPA
Jan has been with The CPA GROUP since 1993. She graduated from Davenport College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and has prior experience from her employment with Lettinga & Associates, P.C. Jan has a special interest in accounting, tax preparation and tax planning. In addition to being a member of the AICPA and the MACPA, she is also the treasurer of the Greater Grandville Chamber of Commerce.
Jan enjoys traveling, golfing, and volunteering.
PAUL WASSINK, CPA
Paul joined the firm in 1990 after having been employed by Robert J. McBain & Co., P.C. He is a graduate of Dordt College. His areas of expertise include auditing and review work, business valuation, small business consultation, and accounting for non profit organizations.
Paul is a member of the West Michigan Construction Financial Managers Association and the Institute of Business Appraisers. He also serves as a supervisory committee member of a credit union. Paul also belongs to the MAPCA and the AICPA.
Paul and his wife, Jan, have two children. He enjoys puttering around the house, boating, hunting, fishing, and a little travel. He is also active in church and related activities.
In 1996, Deanna joined our firm having just moved from Lansing where she was employed by Simplified Accounting and Tax. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Michigan State University. Deanna specializes in compilations and reviews. In addition, she is available for training and support of Quickbooks and Creative Solutions accounting applications. She is a member of the AICPA and MACPA.
Deanna enjoys golf, tennis, and movies.
LORI ENGEN, CPA, MST, JD
Lori has been employed with the firm for over twelve years. She has a Masters Degree in Taxation from Grand Valley State University as well as a Law Degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. She currently works part time for The CPA GROUP, PC, working mainly in corporate, partnership and individual taxation. She also operates her own legal practice when not working for us.
CHAD GROGGEL, CPA
Chad first joined our firm as a student intern in 1999. Upon his graduation from Grand Valley State University with a BBA in Accounting, he was hired into a full time position. Currently, Chad works with a diverse group of business and individual clients, providing them with traditional accounting services and tax preparation. In addition, Chad can provide technical support for users of accounting software, specifically QuickBooks.
Chad enjoys playing tennis, golfing, working around the house and spending time with family and friends.
STEVE HELDER, CPA, CNA
Steve joined our firm in 1996 as an accountant, but primarily as our computer network administrator. Prior to that, he had been employed by Holland Board of Public Works, and American Express Tax and Business Services, Inc. He is a graduate of Calvin College with a degree in Accounting. Steve is a member of the MACPA and the AICPA, and is Certified Network Administrator.
Steve and his wife, Sue, have three children. Steve enjoys reading science fiction, golf, and learning new computer systems.
LAURA KLOOSTER, CPA
In 1998, Laurie became an employee of The CPA GROUP in a merger of two firms. She is a graduate of Calvin College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Laurie's areas of expertise include monthly accounting, compilations, Peachtree & Quickbooks Accounting software. She is a member of both the AICPA and MACPA.
Laurie enjoys showing dogs & equestrian activities.
SANDY PARK, ACCOUNTANT
Joined The CPA GROUP, PC in December 2001 after relocating to Michigan from Massachusetts. Has worked in public accounting for a large regional CPA firm in Western Massachusetts prior to joining The CPA GROUP, PC. Primarily focuses on monthly and quarterly compilations.
Since moving to Michigan has become a Master Gardener and is involved in many gardening volunteer projects, such as at the recently opened Gilda's Club.
TIM RYKSE, ACCOUNTANT
Tim joined The CPA Group in 1998. He has an Associates Degree in Accounting from Davenport College. He gained prior experience at Land & Co, Inc., and Prolight, Inc. His expertise is in Excel spreadsheets, monthly accounting, and Quickbooks training and support..
Tim and his wife, Nancy, have two children. He enjoys golf, boating, and soccer.
KAY SNYDER, CPA, CVA
Kay came to us in 1997 after having worked at Mierendorf & Co., PC for twelve years. She is a co-owner of DesignTech, LLC, Inc. Kay obtained her Associates Degree from Ferris State University and her Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University. In addition to being a CPA, Kay is also a Certified Valuation Analyst. Her areas of expertise include compilations and reviews, monthly accounting, and business valuations. She is a member of the MACPA, the AICPA, and the NACVA (National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts).
Kay and her husband, Jerry, have one grown son. She enjoys bowling, playing bridge, reading, gardening crafting, Red Hatting and camping on Lake Michigan.
Administrative and Support Staff:
BRENDA LEPISTO, BUSINESS MANAGER
Brenda was employed by the firm in 1990, having moved to Michigan from Ohio the year before. She attended Miami (of Ohio) University where she studied English and Business Management. She has had experience in many fields including banking, personnel, accounting, real estate and civil service.
NADINE MUELLER, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Nadine is our "veteran" administrator, having joined the company in 1988. She attended Grand Rapids Community College where she studied business administration. She came to us with experience from H & R Block and public accounting. In addition to customer service, Nadine is an expert administrator in the areas of taxes of all kinds and their due dates. She also is responsible for our collections.
Nadine and her husband, Bob, have four grown children. She enjoys family, boating, bridge, movies and travel.
RUTH STUK, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Ruth joined the firm in 1989 and has been assigned to our Holland location where she functions in both an administrative and bookkeeping position.
Ruth and her husband, Warren, have three grown children and eight grandchildren to keep them "busy."
